You Will Own Nothing and Be Miserable

A dangerous shift is happening all around us—a movement so subtle, many don’t realize it’s already infiltrating their lives. It's the "You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy" agenda, a scheme to strip you of true ownership and shackle you to a lifetime of payments. From digital goods to physical products, corporations are turning everything into a subscription model, and if we’re not careful, this trend will reshape the very fabric of our freedom.

The Trap You’re Walking Into

Imagine buying a video game, only to realize you don’t really own it. Instead, you’ve purchased a license that can be revoked at any time. Maybe you’ve experienced this already: a favorite game removed from your digital library, or your smart home devices losing functionality without warning. This is no accident.

What starts with games and doorbells is quickly expanding to more critical parts of life. Consider electric vehicles (EVs): vehicles that can be locked behind paywalls. Want heated seats? That’s a subscription. Full driving range? Another fee. Tesla recently demonstrated this when it locked features behind software upgrades, and BMW now charges subscriptions for heated seats. You’ll pay tens of thousands of dollars upfront for the car, but still be locked into recurring payments for features it already has.

This is the reality the "own nothing" movement seeks to normalize. The endgame? To keep you perpetually tied to payments, unable to walk away from the system. The products you thought you bought aren’t yours—they’re licensed, controlled by corporations or governments who can take them away whenever they choose.

The True Dangers of Never Owning Anything

What’s at stake here is bigger than convenience—it’s your freedom. When corporations control the tools you need to live, they can dictate your behavior. If you refuse to comply with their terms, you lose access. Governments could partner with these corporations to enforce policies without needing laws. Imagine your car, appliances, or even access to basic utilities shut off because of a disagreement with a corporate policy or a political stance.

Electric vehicles are the tip of the spear. They demonstrate how this model will evolve—ensuring that even large, expensive purchases aren’t truly yours. Gasoline cars offered a simple promise: pay once, drive as long as it works. With EVs, you’re tied to software subscriptions, updates, and potential remote deactivation, all under the guise of "improvements" or "security."

But it doesn’t end there. Smart refrigerators, internet-connected stoves, and even cloud-based home security systems are taking away your autonomy. Lose your subscription, and the product becomes useless—leaving you trapped in a world where ownership no longer exists.
